Homework/Daily Folder
There will be a Math Home Link sent home almost daily, Monday-Thursday. Each assignment is based on that day’s lesson. It is basically a repeat of what we did that day in their class practice journal. If the assignment is a struggle, it's an indicator that more practice/support is needed within the concept. Occasionally, a different kind of homework assignment will come home.
Students will be responsible for 'spot checking' their daily homework for accuracy. The answers to select problems are chosen, so not all need to be checked. If a mistake is discovered, s/he should figure out how to correct it, ask for help or write me a quick note. There are two ways to check it:
1) At the beginning of each unit, I send home the Family Note which contains all the answers (on the last page). SAVE THIS. I encourage the students to find a predictable place for this because it will be used daily.
2) On my "Helpful Links" page under Everyday Math there is a button which will connect you to 'Family Links'. Make sure you're looking under the correct unit, then match the lesson to the assigned homework.
I rarely assign homework over the weekend. If you/your child is interested in having further activities, there are many options available in Clever.
**Please peek at your child's folder DAILY.

Drop-off/Pick-up: Fourth graders enter and exit the building on their own through the set of doors on the south side (near Mr. Clarkson's classroom). At dismissal, please meet at a predetermined place, outside of the building.
Birthdays:
Birthdays are fun to celebrate! At King we do this with non-food items. • Share a loved book/story by reading it to the class. OR • Hand out individual items such as pencils, stickers, erasers, etc. OR • An extended recess break may be requested: 10 min. **We celebrate summer birthdays in June. |
Snacks:
For the fist six weeks of school please only bring fruits and vegetables, as we are trying to make sure all medical plans are in place. After that, it will be fine to bring a snack of nutritional value such as cheese, crackers, fruit, vegetables, etc. I don’t allow candy/chocolate as a snack. Students are not to share food for various reasons. |
